Rebozo for Special Needs Children

Rebozo for Special Needs Children It is absolutely amazing what Diane Vincentz have told us about the rebozo techniques applied to Special Needs Children. It has touch us and motivates us so much that we want to spread the word for all these families that have a child with special need.

Diane have wrote to us a description of why the rebozo works for the mobilisation and the internal body map organisation of the child.

“Diane Vincentz from ABR Denmark has been working with Special Needs Children for 30 years and is extremely excited about what the addition of the Rebozo Techniques is bringing to the ABR Program.

“Rebozzo Techniques” are actually able to bring something essential and fundamental into the work with Special Needs individuals, which one is not able to achieve in any other manner – and this is the mobilisation as well as the simultaneous internal Body Map orgaisation of what we call the “Primary Movement Coordination”.

The Primary Coordination is the highly complex and intricate organisation of all deep and superficial spine and trunk structures and movements which the healthy child achieves entirely on his own in the first months of life. By six months of age, the healthy child has more or less completed this essential trunk and spine coordination which then allows him or her to start to roll, creep on the tummy and to crawl.

In most cases the Special Needs Child never achieves this Primary Coordination due to weaknesses of the respiratory mechanics, lack of internal biotensegral stability and the ensuing stiffness of the spine.

With the Rebozo techniques one can begin to loosen up the frozen fascia and allow for mobilization of these structures by applying the source of movement through the cloth. This integrated cloth wrapping transfers the movement to the body in a manner which remains within the ithe trunk and spine movements ranges of movement. This allows for the coordination to begin to be part of the internal proprioceptive system and become integrated neurologically.”
